Providence, RI – February 1st is National Unclaimed Property Day and RI Treasurer James Diossa is reminding Rhode Islanders to recover their money.

“Nearly 1 in 7 Rhode Islanders have unclaimed funds or property in our custody, worth millions of dollars,” said Treasurer Diossa. “It only takes 30 seconds to visit FindRIMoney.gov and recover your money.”

Treasurer Diossa also released a video message available in English and Spanish.

Unclaimed property consists of cash and assets that the Treasurer’s office recovers from businesses, banks, landlords, safe deposit boxes, and utility companies. The property is kept safe until it can be returned to its rightful owner. Find out if you have unclaimed property by visiting FindRIMoney.gov or calling the RI Unclaimed Property Division at 401-462-7676.
