RI Treasury Publishes Guide to Pension Changes Published on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 Providence, RI – Today, Rhode Island General Treasurer James A. Diossa announced the availability of an online guide explaining recent changes to the Employees’ Retirement System of Rhode Island (ERSRI) pension system. These changes follow the enactment of Article 12 of the state’s FY25 budget: Cost of Living Adjustments for certain teachers, state employees, and municipal employees who retired on or before June 30, 2012; Changes to the Final Average Salary formula used to determine benefit amount; Extension of law permitting retired teachers to exceed post-retirement employment caps; Increase in post-retirement income limitations for education professionals; Benefit changes for state-employed public safety professionals. The guide is available on both www.ersri.org and www.treasury.ri.gov websites. Additionally, the July edition of ERSRI’s member newsletter, Compass, will focus on the policy changes and how these impact active and retired members.
