PROVIDENCE, RI – General Treasurer James A. Diossa applauds the General Assembly for passing the "Resilient Rhody Infrastructure Fund" (H 6252 / S 1070), introduced at the request of Rhode Island Treasury and the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank (RIIB) by Senate Majority Leader Ciccone and Representative Cortvriend. This landmark legislation establishes a dedicated revolving fund within the RIIB to support local climate resiliency projects.

“I’m grateful to the General Assembly for recognizing the urgency of climate change and passing this vital legislation,” said Treasurer Diossa. “The Resilient Rhody Infrastructure Fund will help cities and towns prepare for rising seas, flooding, and extreme weather events while protecting public infrastructure and promoting environmental sustainability.”

“We want to thank the General Assembly for their overwhelming support of this important legislation that will establish the Resilient Rhody Infrastructure Fund," said Infrastructure Bank Executive Director William Fazioli. "This new fund will provide communities with a reliable and renewable funding option to invest in resilient infrastructure projects across Rhode Island, furthering our work to build a more Resilient Rhody."

The Fund will provide long-term financing for projects such as stormwater mitigation, coastal erosion control, floodproofing, and urban greening. It builds on the success of the Municipal Resilience Program and positions Rhode Island as a national leader in climate infrastructure readiness.
