Providence, RI – Today, Rhode Island General Treasurer James A. Diossa announced RI families still have a chance to take sign up for the 529 College Bound Saver promotion. The General Treasurer is offering a one-time contribution of $250 to the first 160 that open this savings account using the promo code: 529DAY.
529 Day is an annual nationwide celebration aimed at drawing attention to state-administered 529 education savings plans. Over the course of the campaign, dozens of new families with children under five opened CollegeBound Saver accounts. Any qualifying family that opened an account during the month of May received $250 in their CollegeBound Saver account.
“Our May promotion has helped raise awareness about the importance of saving early for higher education, and I’m proud that so many new families joined the growing community of Rhode Islanders planning for the future through CollegeBound Saver,” said General Treasurer James A. Diossa. “Every dollar saved today can help reduce student debt tomorrow. We remain committed to providing families with tools and resources that make college more accessible and affordable”.
The CollegeBound Saver program offers a tax-advantaged way for families to save for future education expenses, including college, vocational training, and even certain K–12 expenses. With low minimum contributions and flexible investment options, it’s designed to meet the needs of families at every income level.
Treasurer Diossa would like to thank all participating families and community partners for helping to spread the word during this year's campaign and it’s not too late to participate in the promotion using the code: 529DAY. Families have until May 31st to participate.
