Treasurer Diosssa Offers $250 to RI families to Jumpstart College Savings throughout May

Providence, RI – Each year, May 29th is celebrated as 529 Day – an opportunity to encourage Rhode Island families to start saving for their children’s future with a 529 savings account. In anticipation of 529 Day, General Treasurer James A. Diossa is offering a limited promotion to jumpstart families’ savings plans. offer. Through the month of May, the first 160 families who open a CollegeBound Saver account for a child between the ages of 0 to 5 using promo code 529Day would be eligible to receive a $250 contribution to help kickstart their education savings journey.
This year, Rhode Island Treasury is partnering with the Rhode Island Association for the Education of Young Children (RIAEYC) in announcing the campaign at Strolling Thunder Rhode Island, an annual advocacy event that brings together families, early educators, and policymakers to highlight the importance of supporting infants and toddlers in their earliest years.
CollegeBound Saver is Rhode Island’s official 529 education savings plan, designed to help families prepare for the cost of future educational expenses. The plan offers a simple, flexible, and tax-advantaged way to invest in a loved one’s future.
“When we talk about giving kids the best start, it’s not just about those first steps – it’s about building a future full of opportunity and support,” said Treasurer Diossa. “This $250 contribution to the first 160 families to open an account will help to kickstart their education savings journey.
