I will not be able to attend the meeting to express my personal concerns to the Pension Advisory Working Group as I’m home sick with COVID.  I have already called and expressed my sentiments many years ago and it continues to bother me to this day. After working for 3 years in Massachusetts, I purchased the service credit for a little over $18,000 with the knowledge that I would be eligible to retire after 30 years of service in Rhode Island.  I think it’s terrible that the rules were changed in the midst of my career and when I asked to be refunded for the money I spent, the answer was absolutely not.   That money could have been invested and benefited me or my children with their education.   By the time I am 62, I will have nearly 40 years of service.  I’m sure you can imagine my frustration of spending that large sum of money for a specific reason and then have the rules change.
