I would like to let you know how negatively the retirement security act has impacted me personally. I am a current public school teacher with 29 years of dedicated service to my district. I was eligible to retire after next school year with 30 years of service before Gina reformed the pension system. With her reform act, I need to work an additional 9 years after this year. Not only was almost an entire decade added to my career, I will not see the monetary benefit when I finally can retire. I will be entitled to the same amount under the reform as I would have gotten by retiring next year. How is that fair that a person can be forced to work an extra nine years, contribute to the pension system, and not reap any of the monetary benefits? I implore you to make changes to the current system, getting rid of the age requirement and base retirement on years of service. That is the only fair option to those of us who were promised one thing and are now forced into accepting another whole set of rules.
