Susan Brayman Date 2023-12-13 I feel our Colas should be returned to us. We entered into a contract with the State of RI when we retired and it included our COLA’s. It is shameful that this was done to so many dedicated employees that thought what the State had agreed was theirs, then taken away. No way is that legal. With every thing going up so much I keep falling further and further behind. Next year I will probably have to change my drug plan for a new drug plan as because of health issues I now have to take an expensive medication. From what I saw on the Government website my cost for meds and the drug plan it would cost me well over $4000. My plan for this year for drugs and meds cost me less than $500. That’s a very big difference. I feel I am fortunate and healthy enough so that I can shop around and look for the best deals possible. But what about the people who are to sick or incapable of finding deals for themselves? They must cut back on something food, meds, heat, whatever. It is so sad that the State of RI treats the retirees this way. Please see that the State puts its share into the pension plan so we can get our COLA’s back as we rightfully deserve.
